A retired First Lieutenant of the United States Air Force will be speaking at the Lincoln Cultural Center this Saturday as part of an ongoing Black History Month celebration.
Wilson V. Eagleson II was one of the original Tuskegee Airman and has many stories to tell.
â€œWe have been fortunate in having one of the original Airmen with us,â€ said Ola Mae Foster, one of the eventâ€™s organizers. â€œThis is part of history.â€
During Eaglesonâ€™s tenure with the 15th Air Force, he flew 178 missions providing bomber escort for B-17s and B-24s.
His military career included World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
Throughout his life he has received the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Purple Hearts, three Presidential Unit Citations, the Red Star of Yugoslavia, the Korean Service Medal, the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals as well as others.
Eagleson will be speaking at the Lincoln Cultural Center at 2:30 Saturday. Gospel singing will begin at 2 p.m.
