The Denver/Lake Norman Rotary is sponsoring another art auction on Feb. 17.
The “Fall in Love With Art and More Auction,†is promising to offer a variety of roughly 250 different types of art, including sports memorabilia, sculptures, artist jewelry and Disney pieces as well as the usual brand name artists’ work.
The third annual event will take place at the Triangle Industrial Park, 7911 Commerce Drive at 6:30 p.m. with the preview and social. The auction will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The building is being donated by Doug Lusk, who is hoping to open a racing business. He has donated the 6,000 square foot building for the event.
“Each year we are very fortunate to find someone to step up to the plate and donate space to us,†said Jack Funk, organizer of the event.
Funk said the preparations are well underway for the auction and he is very excited. An auctioneer from Ross Galleries of New York will be present to auction off the art pieces.
This company will bring a large variety of art, which Funk said will be beneficial.
“We felt we could attract a larger crowd with more types of art,†he said.
Last year’s event raised roughly $5,500, this year Funk is hoping to raise roughly $5,000.
Money from the event will go to two charities. A portion of the money will be donated to the East Lincoln Christian Ministry building that is currently being built. The money raised will help provide them with office furniture for the building.
The remaining portion of the money will be donated to the American Red Cross to go toward the tsunami relief fund.
“There are a lot of people who want to provide money to this fund but they don’t know how so this is a great way to do this,†Funk said.
At the event, music will be provided by the North Lincoln High School Jazz Ensemble. There will also be a cash bar, prize giveaways and the chance to win a piece of art.
“It should be another great event, that is what we are planning for,†Funk said.
