NLHS band has successful 2nd year

The North Lincoln High School “Band of Knights” completed a successful second year of competition in under the direction of Neil Underwood.
The band has had many successes and is making a bid to become one of the top high school marching bands in North Carolina.
The “Band of Knights” 2004 field show, “Max’s Band Adventure,” told the story of a little boy who wanted to be a member of the band and of the mischief he creates. During the show, Max dreams of leading the “wild thing” band.
Never receiving less than a “superior” rating at any of their competitions, the band, directed on field by Drum Major Brittany Fainn, achieved numerous accolades for their performances. The highlights of the season were:
Class Champion – Foard Band Classic
Grand Champion – Royal Regiment Tournament of Bands
Best Solo Performance – Royal Regiment Tournament – Jeff Jordan, Tuba Solo
Grand Champion – Pisgah Tournament of Bands
Finalist – Western Carolina University Regional Tournament ofChampions
Finalist (3rd Place Overall Band) – Olympic High School “Trojan Cup”
Grand Champion – Carolina Classic Showcase of Bands
Underwood believes the success the band had this year has been due to the hard work and dedication of the students, staff and parents.
“The “Band of Knights” is truly a team effort that feels like one oversized family,” he states.
The band relied heavily on the coordination of many individuals: Assistant Directors Jerry Lowe and Joanna Underwood; Percussion Instructors Frank Bloom and Eric Perkins; Colorguard Instructors Lisa Biggs, Dana Muisener, and Virginia Broome; Horn Line Instructors Ryan Holden, Beverly King, and Pamela King; and Drum Major Instructor Chess Black.
The band salutes the 23 seniors who have helped lead this band since its conception: Steven Ameigh, Raechel Bernardi, Ashlee Bourassa, Ashley Childs, Ashan Davis, Brittany Fainn, Ashley Hooks, Sarah Horak, Jeff Jordan, Julian Kaplan, Justin King, Stephanie Lake, Emily Lauro, Alex Omalza, Andrew Quillen, Andrew Reep, Jada Roark, Danielle Saltzman, Derek Schronce, Adam Shinn, Michael Smith, Michael Stokes, and Brian Summers. They will be missed.
