Wolves to host soccer playoff

The Lincolnton soccer team will host the first round of the 2A State Playoffs on Wednesday against the No. 5 seed of the Western Highlands Conference.
The Wolves, who finished tied for third in the Midwest 2A Conference, earned a No. 4 seed after a coin toss decide if they would receive a third or fourth seed.
Lincolnton finished the season with an 11-7-0 overall record. In the MW 2A, the team finished 7-5-0, losing to two of the top ten teams in the state No. 7 Newton-Conover and No. 8 Shelby by close margins.
The match on Wednesday will be at Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m.
Wolves head coach Ed Watson is pleased with the Wolves’ season to this point and direction of the program.
“The team in its second season is making great improvements and is on its way to becoming a strong force in Western North Carolina Soccer with continued support of the community and the school.”
