On Saturday Oct. 16, the North Lincoln High School â€œBand of Knightsâ€ traveled to Western Carolina University to compete in the â€œTournament of Champions Invitational.â€
At the end of preliminary competition, the band received first place award for drum major, and was chosen to compete in the final competition that same evening. Out of 26 bands competing on Saturday, the â€œBand of Knightsâ€ held last yearâ€™s position of 10th. Holding two â€œGrand Championâ€ awards so far this year, the â€œBand of Knightsâ€ will travel to Charlotte to compete in the OHS Band â€œTrojan Classicâ€ at Olympia High School.
Â· The West Lincoln High School â€œRebel Bandâ€ competed this past Saturday in Mooresville at the â€œBlue Devil Classic.â€
The bandâ€™s exceptional performance achieved great results as they were awarded first place in colorguard, percussion, general effect, marching and music and received the second place accolade for drum major.
Receiving recognition for First Place Band in Class A for the day, they missed placing as Grand Champion for class A and AA by only .1 of a point.
The â€œRebel Bandâ€ will be on break this coming weekend, but will continue to strive for high awards through the remainder of the competitive season.
Â· Lincolnton High Schoolâ€™s Marching Band traveled to Shelby on Saturday to compete in the Shelby Golden Classic.
Competing in class AA, the band was awarded first place in visual effect, first place for colorguard, second place in music effect and second place for drum major.
They finished with second place in Class AA, and received the second place trophy overall for class A and AA.
This Saturday the Lincolnton Marching Band will also travel to the â€œTrojan Classicâ€ at Olympic High School in Charlotte.
Â· The East Lincoln High School â€œMustang Bandâ€ took this past weekend off between their six weeks of competition. The band will resume their competition this coming weekend at the Olympic High School â€œTrojan Classic.â€
The band has had a very successful first half of the season and is anticipating continued success as they continue to refine their skills and their show, â€œControlling SPHERES.â€
The â€œMustang Bandâ€ band is very excited about the upcoming weeks left in the competition season, including the 14th annual East Lincoln High School â€œCarolina Classic.â€
