Shelby wins tourney

The Lincolnton Lady Wolves did not win the Midwest 2A Conference Tennis Tournament this year but are assured a finish of no worst than third place. The Shelby Lady Golden Lions won the tournament with 15 points.
In singles’ play, Liz Rhine lost her semi-final match against Nicol Lampe from Newton. Anna Carpenter, who was playing in the consolation bracket, fell to East Rutherford’s No. 1 player Sarah Horne.
In doubles, Shawn Kindley/Jessica Newton advanced to the finals beating Shelby’s No. 2 doubles team of Beth Wright/Catherine Langley. They lost in the finals against Betsy Martin/Erin Mode. To reach the finals, Martin/Mode knocked off Angela Graham/Shelley Stevens.
The doubles team of LeeAnna Young/Nicol Mick from West Lincoln won the doubles’ consolation bracket earning a trip to the West Regional.by Staff Reports
