STANLEYâ€”Proving that last Saturdayâ€™s victory was no fluke, Cherryvilleâ€™s Buddy Smith stole the show by dominating Saturday nightâ€™s Late Model feature race at East Lincoln Speedway.
Smith started from the pole in the Denver based Tim Sigmon prepared mount and led the entire 25 laps. Completing the top five positions were Keith Bowman, David Yandle, Jeff Medlin and Woody Vosberg.
Luther Bishop won the Super Stock V-8 main. Jerry Oliver collected the first place Stock Four payoff. Chris Smith was the class of the Rookie Four field. Peter Martin continued his winning ways in the Sprint Car event.
The nightâ€™s activities concluded with a unique race called the â€˜Backwardâ€™s Chase.â€ Rookie Four racers competed for 10 laps in clockwise direction. Josh Harwell was the winner.
The program concluded the 2004 season for the 3/8-mile clay oval. The next East Lincoln speedway related event will be the annual awards banquet set for Sat. Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m.at Downtown Dinoâ€™s in Gastonia. A steak dinner will be offered along with 70 trophies honoring drivers for their on-track accomplishments this season. Seating will be limited to 500 people.
