The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and the Small business Center at Gaston College are sponsoring a seminar Oct. 7 on the topic “Motivating and Training Hourly Workers.” Mike Collins, president of the The Perfect Workday Company will present the workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lincoln Campus of Gaston College. The workshop is designed to assist managers in: methods to motivate hourly workers who are not performing:, utilizing good management resources; creating structure and providing methodical training; and providing rewards for better performance. First Federal Savings Bank will hold the grand opening of the Denver Branch on Tuesday at 2074 N. Hwy. 16 (in front of the Food Lion.) the public is invited to drop by for an “open house” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A ribbon-cutting will be held at 2 p.m.

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the Small Business Person of the Year. The award recognizes the achievements of small businesses in the community and spotlights a person whose played an important role.
