Arrest made in alleged ax attack

A Lincoln County man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted another man with an ax.
Michael John Wheeler, 25, of 2213 Joe Scronce Lane, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, according to arrest reports.
The incident happened the night of Sept. 3 when Shannon John Gaisser took his girlfriend to Wheeler’s house to pick up clothes, according to a report from Detective Tim Johnson with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Wheeler allegedly attacked Gaisser’s car with an ax, breaking the driver’s side window out and cutting Gaisser and his girlfriend.
The report says that Wheeler also reportedly hit the driver’s door and hood of the vehicle with the ax.
Gaisser and the woman were treated at Lincoln Medical Center and released. Gaisser required stitches for a cut on his arm.
Wheeler was arrested at his residence without incident, the report states.
Deputy D.M. Decker and 1st Sgt. Brian Doolittle assisted Johnson in the investigation.by Staff Reports
