Historic Latta Plantation will commemorate the 224th anniversary of the Battle of Charlotte on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $4 for students of any age. North Lincoln High School will have a tailgate party, Friday, Sept. 10 to kick off the North Lincoln Knights and East Lincoln Mustangs football game. The second annual Denver Days Festival will be held on Oct. 1 & 2. Friday’s events will run from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday the festival will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will be held in downtown Denver, off of N.C. 16 on Denver Drive. Admission is free. Entertainment will include a performance by the “Tams,” on Friday evening, a 5K race, a Denver Beauty Pageant on Saturday, “Elvis,” and the Lake Norman Ensemble.

The East Lincoln Betterment Association will be hosting a community dinner Sept. 14 at Westport Baptist Church. Dinner will start at 6:30 p.m. and consist of salad and spaghetti with garlic bread for a donation to the youth group. Christian Women’s Fellowship at Westport Baptist Church will have Kristin Lacy, of Lincolnton as a speaker on Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. The singer will be Lynsi Uptegraft. There will be a $6 donation. A habitat home owner information session will be Sunday, Sept. 12 at 3 p.m. The session will cover, how families are selected for homeownership, a family’s financial obligations in buying a habitat house and how a family can apply for a habitat home. The Amazing Maize Maze will have it’s grand opening Aug. 28 and run until Oct. 17 on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Historic Rural Hill Farm in Huntersville. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, 60 and over, $7 for nine to 17, $5 for four to eight years old and three and under are free. The event is open on Labor Day. ELBA will host their second progressive dinner on Sept. 23 to benefit the Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse. The night will begin at 6:30 p.m. with appetizers at Mazatlan, located in Natalie Commons Shopping Center. Dinner & Dessert will be held at Curly’s BBQ, located next to Waterside Crossing on N.C. 73 East. Live entertainment after dinner will be the Sigmon Stringers. Lake Norman Lutheran Church in Denver will have their third annual music festival, Saturday, Sept. 11 from noon to 8 p.m. All proceeds received from ads, concession and sales will benefit East Lincoln Christian Ministry. Mount Anderson Baptist Church will hold their 4th annual car show, Saturday, Sept. 11. Registration will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Awards will be issued at 2 p.m. The cost is $15 to enter. All proceeds will go to the building fund for the church. Door prizes will be given out all day. The church is located at 4836 N.C. 16, Maiden, six miles out of Denver. The 4th annual Phoenix Society Golf Classic will be held Monday, Oct. 4 at the Peninsula Club in Cornelius. The event will honor fallen firefighter, Josh Earley, who was a Harrisburg and Charlotte firefighter and will benefit the North Carolina Burn Survivors and firefighters.
