Rally draws 32 churches

Planners of the second annual Lincolnton Community Youth Rally hope children will play ball.
This year’s event, “Catching the Spirit,” will be held Friday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Sept. 26 at Boger City United Methodist Church. But make no mistake, children from all denominations are welcome.
“This is at Boger City United Methodist, but this is a community endeavor,” the Rev. Keys Pendleton said.
Pendleton serves on a committee with other volunteers who want to offer a weekend of activity and enlightenment for children.
Events will kick off at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24. A band will play music while kids register and dig into some pizza.
Weekend activities will continue Saturday and Sunday from 4 until 9 p.m. There will be games, door prizes, food, batting cages and a Moon Walk.
Committee members see the event as a way to celebrate children. Thirty-two churches from 11 denominations are participating.
