The Lincolnton Wolves JV team beat North Gaston 18-12 Thursday night at Lincolnton Memorial Stadium.
Much-heralded freshmen C.J. Wilson and Madriekus Mayfield did not disappoint in their first JV game. Wilson had a 55-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Then Mayfield hooked up with Duncan Anderson for a 23-yard touchdown pass.
Wilson scored his second touchdown of the game in the third quarter on an eight-yard run.

The Wildcats scored in the third and with five minutes left, but a clutch sack on the Wolvesâ€™ 25-yard line preserved the win in the final few minutes.
Josh Adams, Octavious Reid, Justin Farley, Jemel Reeves, Will Abernathy were defensive standouts for the Wolves.
Wolvesâ€™ head coach Fred Dalrymple was pleased with his teamâ€™s first game performance.
â€œThatâ€™s the most physical team Iâ€™ve seen at North Gaston in five years. I thought the kids hung on and played well in the first game. Weâ€™ll keep working and trying to get better.â€
Wilson rushed for near 150 yards in his first game.
The North Lincoln Knights beat Charlotte Christian 22-20 Thursday at Charlotte Christian.
The Knights recovered a fumble in the end zone with four seconds left to tie the game at 20. Then quarterback Peyton Brady rushed in a two-point conversion to win the game.
Sophomore tailback Jarrett Robbins scored two touchdowns for the Knights.
The East Lincoln Mustangs squeaked by the West Lincoln Rebels 6-0 on a Nick Bell fourth quarter touchdown.
The Rebels defense was lead by defensive end Eric Eason and linebacker Logan Shronce.
West Lincolnâ€™s offense was led by freshman quarterback Jake Watts and halfback Kevin Martin.
These games were the first JV games of the season for Lincoln Co. teams. Lincolnton, North Lincoln and East Lincoln are all 1-0, while West Lincoln will try to get their first win of the season next week versus Bessemer City.
