The Amazing Maize Maze will have itâ€™s grand opening Aug. 28 and run until Oct. 17 on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Historic Rural Hill Farm in Huntersville. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, 60 and over, $7 for nine to 17, $5 for four to eight years old and three and under are free. The event is open on Labor Day. EAST LINCOLN BETTERMENT ASSOCIATION PROGRESSIVE DINNER
ELBA will host their second progressive dinner on Sept. 23 to benefit the Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse. The night will begin at 6:30 p.m. with appetizers at Mazatlan, located in Natalie Commons Shopping Center. Dinner & Dessert will be held at Curlyâ€™s BBQ, located next to Waterside Crossing on N.C. 73 East. Live entertainment after dinner will be the Sigmon Stringers. CIVIL WAR ENCAMPMENT
Due to Hurricane Charley, the Historic Latta Plantation Civil War Encampment has been rescheduled for August 28 and 29. Reenactors from the 30th NC will show how Confederate soldiers lived while on campaign. There will be drill and musket firing demonstrations, as well as talks about field cooking, uniforms, and equipment. Local historians Dan Morrill and Tony Zeiss will sign copies of their books. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, $4 for students, and children 5 and under are free. CHRISTIAN MUSIC FESTIVAL
Lake Norman Lutheran Church in Denver will have their third annual music festival, Saturday, Sept. 11 from noon to 8 p.m. All proceeds received from ads, concession and sales will benefit East Lincoln Christian Ministry. Verdict Ridge Golf & Country Club will host the 4th annual ladies invitational golf tournament to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday, Aug. 30.
