STANLEY— East Lincoln Speedway’s stock car racing program scheduled for last Saturday night fell victim to rain.
Racing will continue Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. Five divisions will compete for $4,500 in posted awards. Gates will opened at 4 p.m.
National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame member Mike Duvall with 40 years of racing experience has notified track officials that he plans to make his first East Lincoln Speedway start in over three years Saturday night.
“I’ve been jumping around from track to track quite a bit lately searching for information that will benefit me at the driving school that I have in Gaffney, S.C. plus it will allow me the opportunity to tune up for the big Labor Day weekend races,” said Duvall.
The 55-year-old Cowpens S.C. resident known by his cartoon inspired “Flintstone Flyer†car notched his 1,000th career victory on July 23, 700 of which have come in Late Models. Duvall’s most prestigious win came in 1982 at Eldora Speedway’s World 100 in Rossburg, OH.
Admission Saturday will be $10 for adults with children 10 and under free. The 3/8-mile clay oval is located on Mariposa Road, five miles east of Stanley. For more information call the track office at (704)-263-5347. by Special to the LTN
