Eleven vie for Apple Queen Title

The 26th Annual Miss Lincoln County Apple Queen Scholarship Pageant is set to take place at the James Warren Citizens Center in downtown Lincolnton Saturday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m.
Beauties from all over the county, East to West are vying for the title of 2004 Lincoln County Apple Queen and scholarships awards: $2,500 for the queen; $1,000 for 1st runner-up; $750 for 2nd runner-up and $100 cash and an engraved Apple Plaque for Miss Congeniality.
The theme for this year’s pageant is “Modern Woman” and will feature local talent with song and dance for the entertainment portions of the pageant. The event is sponsored by the Lincolnton Business and Professional Women’s Organization (BPW/Lincolnton).
There will be NO advance ticket sales this year. Tickets will be sold at the door beginning at 5:45 p.m. The cost will be $10 for adults and $8 for seniors (60+) and children and 12 and under. All former Apple Queens are invited as guests along with reigning queens holding titles from around the state.
This year’s contestants are as follows:
Ashley Marie Arlow daughter of Tom and Cristina Arlow of Lincolnton. She is a 2004 graduate of Lincolnton High School and will be a freshman at Duke University majoring in Political Science.
Brittany Leigh Browning daughter of J.C. and Tim Slawter of Iron Station. She is a senior at East Lincoln High School.
Allison Marie Castle daughter of Steven and Marian Castle of Denver. She is a senior at North Lincoln High School.
Kierstyn Nichol Cavazos daughter of Lee and Patricia Cavazos of Denver. She is a senior at North Lincoln High School.
Laura Kathryn Drum daughter of Tommy and Dorea Drum of Lincolnton. She is a 2000 graduate of Lincolnton High School and is a senior at UNC-Charlotte majoring in Communications and Spanish.
Terran Elaine Farris daughter of Torben and Tammy Farris of Lincolnton. She is a 2004 graduate of Lincolnton High School and is a freshman at Gaston College majoring in Dental Hygiene and Broadcasting.
Valerie Michelle Fite daughter of Rev. Rick and Vivian Fite of Lincolnton. She is a senior at West Lincoln High School.
Ashlie Denise Kelley daughter of Cindy Kelley. She is a 2003 graduate of Lincolnton High School and is a sophomore at Gaston College studying to be a child psychologist.
Kristen Leigh Kinney daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Kinney. She is a 2003 graduate of Lincolnton High School and is a sophomore at Appalachian State University majoring in elementary education.
Ashley Nicole Lawing daughter of Gary and Annette Lawing of Maiden. She is a senior at North Lincoln High School.
Amber Sue Lawson daughter of William and Vicki Lawson of Lincolnton. She is a senior at Lincolnton High School.by Staff Reports
