STANLEY— Mooresville’s Ray Dockery continued his winning way with a third victory in four Late Model feature starts at East Lincoln Speedway on Saturday night.
He won his heat race, started from the pole, then charged unchallenged to victory in the 20-lap main event. David Lindsey finished second, David Yandle third, Dan Yarbrough fourth and Keith Bowman fifth.
“Three wins in four weeks is just about as good as it can get,†said Dockery in victory lane.
Buster Milstead notched a victory in Thunder & Lightning action. Kent Petrea triumphed in the Super Stock V-8 feature. Jerry Oliver scored a win in Stock-4 competition. Chris Smith posted a win in the Rookie-4 main. Top honors in Sprint competition went to Peter Martin.
Saturday night was the first program under the track’s new general manager, James Honeycutt.
“Things went great,†said Honeycutt. “The cooperation from drivers was unreal and the fact we met our goal of getting the races completed at a respectable hour was achieved.â€
Action ended at 10:35 p.m. Seventy cars signed in to compete for the $4,250 purse. Racing returns to the 3/8-mile clay oval Saturday night beginning at 7 p.m. Six divisions will see 200 laps of competition.
