EL fall baseball
The East Lincoln Optimist will hold sign-ups for fall Baseball and Softball on the following dates; August 7th from 9-noon and on August 3rd and 5th from 6-8 p.m.
Boys ages 7 through 18 and girls ages 7 through 15 are eligible to participate. The cost is $65 for ages 9-12 and $75 for ages 13-18.
Sign-ups will be at the clubhouse on Optimist club Road.
Cherryville night for Gastonia Grizzlies
It will be Cherryville Night on Monday at Sims Legion Park when the Gastonia Grizzlies host Thomasville.
A spokesman for the Grizzlies said the promotion is designed to honor Cherryville`s contribution to baseball in the area.
Danny Eaker, who announces Cherryville High School and Cherryville American Legion Post 100 home games, will be guest announcer for Monday`s game, which has a 7 p.m. start.
The game will give Cherryville fans an opportunity to see a familiar player in action. Jay Heafner, a West Lincoln High graduate who played four seasons with Post 100, is having a stellar season with the Grizzlies.
Monday`s game will be the next-to-last home appearance this season for the Grizzlies.
WL Optimist fall ball
Fall sign ups for T-ball, Coaches Pitch, 9-10 baseball, 11-12 baseball, 9-10 softball and 11-12 softball will be held Saturday July 31st-August 7th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. On August 2nd, 3rd and 5th sign ups will from 5-8 p.m.
The location for these sign ups is West Lincoln Optimist Park.
There will be a North Lincoln Boosters Club meeting on Monday August 2nd at 7 p.m. in the seminar room at North Lincoln High School.
Lady Wolves volleyball practice
On Monday, August 2nd from 3-6 p.m. LHS will have volleyball practice for all 9-12 graders that are interested in playing.
All those interested must have current physical. Physical forms are available in the office at Lincolnton High School.
EL Middle softball
On Monday, August 2nd from 3-5 p.m. East Lincoln Middle will host softball tryouts.
Anyone wanting to tryout must have a current physical, copy of report card and softball equipment.
Practice will begin on August 2nd at 3 p.m. Must have a current physical to participate.
EL Middle football
East Lincoln football practice will start Tuesday August 3rd at 3-5 p.m.
A current physical is required.
The first annual Thunder â€˜Nâ€™ Lightning Softball Tournament August 13th-15th at City Park.
The entry fee is $125. There will be first place, second place, third place and fourth place trophies along with an MVP trophy.
Deadline is August 9th. The first 12 teams to contact Bobby at 704-735-0626 will gain entry.
The Lincolnton/Lincoln County Parks and Recreation Department is looking for teams and individuals interested in participating in a Fall Flag Football League.
There will be a meeting for team captains and individuals on Monday, August 30th at 6 p.m. at the Lentz Recreation Center.
The department is also seeking individuals knowledgeable about the game of football to referee league games from mid-September through the end of November. For more information about the league or refereeing, contact the recreation office at 704-735-2671.
Boger City fall ball
Registration for baseball, softball and soccer is on July 31st and August 7th, 14th and 21st at 9 a.m. until noon.
For the soccer league, all kids born on or after August 1, 1990 are eligible.
The league and age division coordinators will include Andy Horvat, Ed Willis, Duane Rader and Mark Miller.
The location for sign ups is the Boger City baseball field on Buffalo Shoals Road. Cost is $40.
The Adrian L. Shuford Jr. YMCA is taking menâ€™s fall softball church/member registration. The league is open to the first 10 teams. There will be an organizational meeting on August 17th at 6 p.m. There is a $100 non-refundable deposit and $225 before the first game.
