A Cherryville man was arrested last week on charges stemming from motor vehicle thefts here and in other jurisdictions.
Jonathan Stephen Price, 22, of 1409 E. Church St. in Cherryville was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle by Lincolnton Police.
Police say Price allegedly test drove 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo at Promotion Auto.
The next day, the Jeep was missing from the lot. It was valued at $6,500.
On Thursday, the Cherryville Police Department received information from the Forrest City Police Department on a stolen vehicle they believed to be in the Cherryville area, Detective Mike Allred said.
The vehicle was stopped at 5 p.m. in the Gasland parking lot.
Price was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of schedule IV drugs (Xanax), possession of schedule VI drugs (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The car, a 2000 Ford Mustang valued at $12,500 was recovered at the scene along with the drugs.
Price was turned over to the Lincolnton Police Department on the theft charges, and bond was set at $25,000.
Warrants will be served on Price by the Cherryville Police Department and Forrest City Police Department when he is released from custody, Allred said.by Staff Reports
