Tennis club to offer jr. summer camps
Indian Creek Tennis and Swim Club will sponsor tennis camps for ages 6-17 on July 6-8 and July 19-23.
The fee for the full-day camp is $90 for club members and $100 for non-members. The morning camps are $45 for members and $50 for non-members.
Don Campbell, the club’s owner and a tennis pro, will direct the camps. Stroke production, overall fitness and competitive play will be the points of emphasis. The camps are geared to beginners, intermediate and advanced players.

City Park to host softball tournament
The Tournament of Champion Men’s Softball Tournament is July 10 at the Lincolnton City Park.
The tournament has an entry fee of $110, and the deadline to enter is July 5. Trophies go to the top three teams and MVP.

Local lodge to host Par 3 golf tourney
The Masonic Lodge of Lincolnton will host a par 3 golf tournament July 10 as a fund-raiser for the Gray Cottage of the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford.
The entry fee for the two-man best ball format is $120 per team for early registration, $130 per team on the day of the tournament. The field is limited to 36 teams. Mulligans are for sale, four for $20.
A putting contest will be held prior to the tournament, and dinner will be served afterward. There will be closest to the pin prizes on all 18 holes.
The tournament has a 3 p.m. shotgun start. The putting contest is at 2 p.m.

Middle school basketball camp
The Lincoln County Family YMCA will be hosting a basketball camp for Middle School Boys and Girls July 12-16th from 9 a.m. – noon.
This camp will focus on the fundamentals of Defense, Passing & Receiving, Shooting, Ball Handling and Screening.
There will also be scrimmages, contests, awards and a few surprises from the Charlotte Bobcats & Sting too. Financial Assistance is available. Please call 704-748-9311 for more details.

Youth soccer clinic
The Lincolnton/Lincoln County Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a youth soccer clinic July 19-23 from 6-7 p.m. at Betty G. Ross Park.
The instructional clinic is for boys and girls ages 5-14 and will focus on soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, drills and games.
Cost is $35 which includes a T-shirt. Deadline to register is July 15th. There is a minimum of 15 participants needed. For more information, contact the recreation office at 704-735-2671.

Lil’ sluggers T-ball
The Lincoln County Family YMCA will be hosting Indoor T-Ball for boys and girls ages 3-6.
It will be each Saturday morning from July 24th-August 21st. All games will be played in the YMCA gym. T-Shirts will be provided.
The purpose of this program will be to teach children age appropriate skills related to T-ball in a fun, non-competitive, character building environment.

Nominations sought for hall of fame
The Lincoln County Sports Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for the class of 2004.
Application forms are available in Lincolnton at the recreation department and at the library`s main branch. In Denver, applications may be picked up at the East Lincoln Community Center and the East Lincoln Library.
Nominations must be submitted by U.S. mail and postmarked no later than Aug. 1. Eligibility requirements are listed on the application form.
