The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra will help Duke Power celebrate its 100th anniversary with a Summer Pops concert Thursday, July 1, at the EnergyExplorium. The symphony will perform at 8:15 p.m. preceded by the Duke Energy Community choir at 7 p.m. Admission and parking is free. Food and drinks will be available at a nominal fee to benefit the East Lincoln High School band.

The July feast will be held at Capt’n Pete’s Restaurant on July 9 at 10 a.m. The cost is $6 per person. Reservations and payment must be made by Sunday, July 4. The speaker will be Dr. Edward Miedema, Urologist with Lincoln Medical Center in Denver.

Lindsey Castle will perform Friday, June 25 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the patio at Waterside Crossing. The Reason will perform Saturday, June 26 at the same time and place.

A patriotic Light Up the Lake Parade will be held Friday, July 2 at approximately 9:15 p.m. starting at Midtown Harborside. It will benefit the Lake Norman Marine Commission’s Navigation Aids Program which will help purchase nighttime navigation lights. Cost to enter is $50. The Poker Run to benefit East Lincoln Relay for Life has been postponed from Saturday, June 26. A new date will be announced later.

On June 24 starting at 6:30 p.m. ELBA will host a Progressive Dinner to benefit the East Lincoln Christian Ministries. Appetizers will begin at Safari Miles, with dinner following at Giorgio’s, dessert and coffee will be held on the patio of Waterside Crossing, with live entertainment. Expresso Plus and Sugar Buzz will provide dessert, coffee and smoothies. Tickets are $35. Checks should be made payable to ELBA. For more information, call 704-489-1996. A Republican primary candidates forum, focusing on candidates running for county commissioner in the July 20 primary election will be held, Tuesday, June 29. A barbeque dinner will be served at 6 p.m., the meeting will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The forum will be facilitated by Denver resident, Doug Mayes. Each candidate will give a brief three minute introduction to present their background and qualification. The forum will be held at the East Lincoln Recreation Center, 8160 Optimist Club Road, Denver.

The Denver Area Business Association will have their 4th annual Independence Day Fireworks celebration, Saturday, July 3 starting at 5 p.m. The event will be held at the East Lincoln High School stadium. Bass tournaments will be held every Friday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. starting April 23 through August 13 at Midway Marina. Registration starts at 5 p.m. For more information call 828-459- 1119.
