Drag racing
ENGLISHTOWN, N.J.— After two qualifying days of heat and humidity at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, the warm weather was replaced by cooler temperatures and the result was tire smoke from a lot of Top Fuel dragsters in the opening round, including Doug Herbert`s Snap-on Racing entry.
Herbert left the starting line first (.080 to .091 seconds) but encountered the traction trouble soon thereafter and Larry Dixon got the win with a 4.695-second time at 316.52 mph to Herbert`s 6.198 at 145.25 mph.
The finish left Herbert in ninth place in the Top Fuel point standings
