Reeling in the bass

The Lincoln County Bass Masters held their June Tournament on High Rock Lake this past weekend.
The winner of the tournament was Mitch Burgin who finished with 10 pounds 6 ounces Doug Laws came in second at 8 pounds 14 ounces.
Larry Patrick finished with 8 pounds in third place. James Martin came in fourth place with 7 pounds 8 ounces John Artis rounded out the top five with 6 pounds 3 ounces.
The ‘Big Fish’ award went to James Martin with a 4 pounds 1 ounce catch.
With a five fish limit, Roy Winkler of Lincolnton and Chris Curtis of Concord took first place on Friday in a ‘Friday Night Fishin’ Friends’ Tournament with 13.40 pounds.
Ronald and Robin Kincaid, of Iron Station and Concord respectively, finished in second place with 13.25 pounds, which included the biggest bass of the night at 3.9 pounds.
Third place went to Roger Griffen of Statesville and Corey Tucker of Mooresville finishing with 12.55 pounds.
For the seventh straight week all fish that were weighed-in were returned to the lake alive and in good condition.
The ‘Friday Night Fishin’ Friends’ installment takes place every Friday night through August 6th.
Entry fee is $40 per boat with a one-time membership fee of $5.
The event starts at 7 p.m. and last until 1 a.m. New members are encouraged.Tournament managers say, ‘just show up, sign up and go fishing.’ The tournament is sponsored by the Balls Creek Bassmasters. by John Mark Brooks
