Man shot during suspected drug deal

A man was shot Monday in northern Lincoln County in what authorities say was a drug deal gone bad.
Timothy Michael Brittain, 19, of 1191 Highland Bluff Court is in stable condition at Carolinas Medical Center today, said Detective Lee Keller with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Keller said that at 11:47 p.m. Monday a call came into 911 reporting shots fired in the Highland Bluff Court area, which is off Summerow Road.
Authorities arrived on the scene and found Brittain in the bedroom of his home, Keller said.
He had been shot in the hand and in the chest.
Brittain was transported to Lincoln Medical Center and then airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center.
He was in critical condition there until this morning when his condition was updated to stable, Keller said.
Brittain’s girlfriend, who also lives at the home, reported the shooting, Keller said.
Keller declined to comment on the details surrounding the incident, but said it appeared to have stemmed from a drug deal.
“It appeared as a drug deal gone bad,” Keller said.
The incident is still under investigation and detectives are checking leads.
Authorities with the Sheriff’s Office are looking for three black males who allegedly left the scene in a silver 4-door sedan, Keller said.
The suspects involved in the shooting will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury when they are arrested, Keller said.
