A patriotic Light Up the Lake Parade will be held Friday, July 2 at approximately 9:15 p.m starting at Midtown Harborside. It will benefit the Lake Norman Marine Commission’s Navigation Aids Program which will help purchase nighttime navigation lights. Cost to enter is $50. Auditions will be held Sunday, June 13 and Monday, June 14 for Salem United Methodist Church’s dinner theatre, “If the Good Lord’s Willing and the Creek Don’t Rise,” which will be held in August. Auditions are open to anyone in the community and will be held at 7 p.m. in the Music Room. Performances will be August 28 and 29 at 6:30 p.m.

A Poker Run to benefit East Lincoln Relay for Life will be held at First Turn Sports Lounge on N.C. 16, Saturday, June 26. Registration will be at 10 a.m. For more information call 704-483-7727.

On June 24 starting at 6:30 p.m. ELBA will host a Progressive Dinner to benefit the East Lincoln Christian Ministries. Appetizers will begin at Safari Miles, with dinner following at Giorgio’s, dessert and coffee will be held on the patio of Waterside Crossing, with live entertainment. A candidates debate, focusing on candidates running for county commissioner and state representative in the July 20 primary election will be held, Tuesday, June 29. A barbeque dinner will be served at 6 p.m., the meeting will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The forum will be facilitated by Denver resident, Doug Mayes. Each candidate will give a brief two minute introduction to present their background and qualification. The forum will be held at the East Lincoln Recreation Center, 8160 Optimist Club Road, Denver.

The Denver Area Business Association will have their 4th annual Independence Day Fireworks celebration, Saturday, July 3. The event will be held at the East Lincoln High School stadium. The East Lincoln Recreation Center is open for indoor walking Monday through Friday at 8:30 a.m. The center is located on Optimist Road.
Lake Norman Flotilla 17-8 of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary holds its monthly meeting on the first Saturday of each month (no meeting in July or December). The meeting is held at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, located on Perth Road, North of Highway 150.

Western Square Dance Lessons are also offered by Cornelius Parks and Recreation, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., on Thursdays, January through April.
This class offers basic knowledge of western square dancing, which features four couples in each square dancing to music ranging from country-western to beach music and popular hits. Dance instruction is given by members of the Cornelius Cutups Square Dance Club.

Cornelius Parks and Recreation offers Jazzercise year around on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30-10:30 a.m.; Monday & Wednesday, 6:15-7:15 p.m.; and Saturday 8:15-9 a.m. and 9:15-10 a.m.
This dance exercise class offers a blend of jazz dance and exercise science set to a variety of music — top 40, jazz, country and classics.
