A Iron Station man died Tuesday after his car collided head-on with another vehicle.
Paul Fitzgerald Jones, 38, was transported to Lincoln Medical Center and then airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he died, according to Lincolnton Police Department reports and obituary information.
The driver of the second car, Janice Withers, 1358 Pressley Drive, was transported to Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The wreck happened at about 7:03 p.m. Tuesday on Salem Church Road near its intersection with Freeman Road.
According to reports, Jones was traveling south on Salem Church. Witnesses told police that his vehicle went across the center line and struck Withersâ€™ vehicle, knocking it off the road.
Withers, 61, had to be extricated from the vehicle, said John Watts with Lincoln County EMS.
She was transported in â€œunstableâ€ condition to Gaston Memorial Hospital, Watts said.
The Boger City Fire Department and Lincoln County EMS responded to the crash.
