Three people were assaulted and their money taken in two separate incidents this weekend in Lincolnton.
The first happened at 1 a.m. Saturday at 600 Huss St., Lincolnton Police Detective Kameron Keener said.
The owners of the house were having a party, and there were 15 to 20 teen-agers there, Keener said.
A 33-year-old black male who lives nearby was asked to come to the party. When he arrived, he and another man had a short verbal argument, Keener said.
A few minutes after the argument had ended, the man was approached by the same man and a friend.
The two began to assault him and knocked him to the ground. Witnesses saw one of the assailants take the man’s wallet.
When police arrived, the man was dazed and said he had been knocked out, Keener said. He was transported by Lincoln County EMS to Lincoln Medical Center.
He suffered cut lips, swelling above the right eye and an injury to his left leg.
Keener has two suspects in this incident and expects to file charges today.
The second incident happened at 8:45 p.m. Saturday at Carolina Motel.
Two men said they went to the motel to visit a friend who was staying there, Keener said. They knocked on the door of the friend’s motel room, but no one answered.
That’s when they were approached by four black males with whom they were acquainted, Keener said.
They were talking, and then four black males jumped one of the men, knocking him to the ground.
One suspect hit the man in the face and took $10 out of his pocket.
When the other man tried to help his friend he was also attacked by the four men.
“As he was knocked to the ground, they took $20 from him,†Keener said.
Both victims drove themselves to Lincoln Medical Center for treatment.
The first man had to get stitches for a lacerated tongue, had an injury to his right hand and suffered damage to his teeth.
The second had an abrasion to his shoulder and face and an injured left thumb.
One person was arrested in connection with the crime.
Brandon Duncan, 18, is charged with one count misdemeanor assault, one count assault inflicting serious injury and one count larceny from a person.
Police are also looking for Nick Wright of Lincolnton who will face the same charges, Keener said.
Anyone with information on these crimes or Wright’s whereabouts should call Keener at 704-736-8900. All information will remain confidential.by Alice Smith
