The East Lincoln Lady Mustangs, along with host West Lincoln Lady Rebels and the North Lincoln Knights, went 2-1 in the first annual Lincoln County Round Robin Tournament.
So who won? The Lady Mustangs took home first place behind the strong pitching of Nicole Hall.
The tie-breaking criteria was fewest runs allowed by each team.
In the first game, East crushed the Lincolnton Lady Wolves 14-0. Kristin Taffi and Brooke Michael hit back-to-back homeruns in the victory.
The over-the-fence homers are the first ever at West Lincoln according to Rebels head coach Allan Hoyle.
The winning pitcher was Hall for the Lady Mustangs.
In the second game, West Lincoln defeated North Lincoln 12-2.
The winning pitcher was Sheana Black, who recorded six strikeouts. Nicole Baxter had seven strikeouts in a losing cause.
Leading hitters were Kendall Barrett who went 3-for-4 with a double and triple, Heather Peterson who was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Holly Hoover who had a RBI triple.
Paula Jarrett and Candi Taylor both went 2-for-3. Jarett also had a double and three RBIs, while Taylor had two RBIs. Nicole Davis doubled.
In the third game, East beat West Lincoln 5-1. The winning pitcher was once again Hall. Black had seven strikeouts in a losing cause.
Leading hitters for the Lady Mustangs were: Taffi who went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, Michael who went 2-for-4 and Jessica Towery who also was 2-for-4.
Leading hitters for the Rebels were: Charyle Godfrey who went 2-for-3 with a double, Barrett who went 2-for-4, Black was also 2-for-4 and Taylor who went 2-for-3 with a RBI double.
In the fourth game, North Lincoln beat Lincolnton 3-2.
April Wilson earned the victory, striking out six, while allowing only two hits.
Meredith Towery went 2-for-2 with one RBI and a walk.
North scored once on a passed ball, with Carolyn Weaver accounting for the other run with a RBI.
In the fifth game, the Lady Knights defeated the Lady Mustangs 2-1.
Nicole Baxter pitched a no-hitter against the Lady Mustangs with Eastâ€™s only run coming on an error.
Knights Lindsey Smith and Jenna Torbert both had doubles, Donia McDonald went 2-for-3 with a RBI. Mackenzie Harley singled in the other run.
Each teamâ€™s record in the tournament are as follows: East Lincoln 2-1, West Lincoln 2-1, North Lincoln 2-1 and Lincolnton 0-3.
