The Midwest 2A Conference tennis opener came on Thursday between the Lincolnton Wolves and the West Lincoln Rebels.
The match was a closely contested one with the Wolves winning 6-3.
Wolves no. 1 seed John James defeated Josh Sain 6-0, 6-2. Rebels no. 2 seed Matt Limone defeated Devin High 3-6, 6-4 (7-2). Jason Martin from Lincolnton defeated Cole Wilson 6-3, 6-0 at no. 3.
The no. 4-6 seed matches couldâ€™ve fallen to either side with each going into tie-breaks.
Wolves no. 4 seed Lee Campbell defeated Dominik Obesser 6-4, 4-6 (8-6). Noah Lopez, no. 5 from West, defeated Andrew Mauney 3-6, 6-2 (7-0). Wolves no. 6 seed Adil Huselja defeated Christian Quingla 7-5, 4-6 (7-4).
Lincolnton took a 4-2 match lead into doubles play. James/High were quick to capitalize clinching the match with a 10-6 win over Limone/Wilson. No. 2 seed Martin/Campbell defeated Sain/Obsesser 10-7.
The team of Lopez/Quingla defeated Mauney/Huselja at no. 3, 8-6.
