County to honor Warren

Lincoln County will honor one of its most respected public servants Sunday by renaming the Citizens Center in Lincolnton in his honor.
The formal dedication of the James W. Warren Citizens Center, 115 W. Main St., will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. A reception will follow.
The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously in November to rename the building after Warren, a former commissioner.
Warren spent 28 years on the board — the longest time served in county history.
He also served as president of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners and received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award from then-Gov. James Martin.
Some of the projects he worked closely with were the Citizens Center, the hospital, the Cultural Center, Lincolnton-Lincoln County Regional Airport, courthouse and the school district.Warren is also lauded for his successes in economic development and his dedication to the Lincoln County.
