New Maiden town manager excited about job

MAIDEN — Todd Clark will be taking over the position of Maiden town manager April 14.
Clark is currently the town manager in the town of Catawba where he has been for four years. He will leave his position April 6.
Clark said he has no hard feelings toward the town of Catawba. He just felt this was a big career move upwards.
“It was a professional opportunity I could not turn down,” he said. “I don’t have any issues or concerns with Catawba, I have enjoyed working here.”
Clark said one just never knows when something will come along.
“I am looking forward to working with the (Maiden) council,” he said. “I am very excited about the opportunity and grateful for the chance to go down there.”
Clark said it will be the same basic requirements of being the town manager in Catawba except it is on a different scale.
“It is a larger municipality,” he said.
According to Clark, the town of Catawba has a population of roughly 721 people, while Maiden has a population of 3,262.
Clark hopes to focus on some of the areas that the council is interested in.
“I know that the town is looking for a new police chief,” he said. “I also know many are concerned about the downtown area.”
Clark is a graduate of Appalachian State University and has worked in Forsyth County, Vance County and Boone.
Once Clark moves to Maiden he said he will still stay in touch with those in Catawba.
“I will continue those relations,” he said. “But I am also looking forward to meeting folks in Maiden and Lincoln County.”The starting salary of the position in Maiden is $49,500.by Amy Wadsworth
